Freelance Tips - Freelance Writing, Freelance Jobs

Whoops

December 17th 2007 18:23
I find myself in an unusual position. My career is moving at a pace it has never moved before and I can hardly keep up with myself. Unfortunately - not really, I love my job at the moment -, it is not the freelance career that is on speed.

Obviously, I have to devote a lot of time to the day job at the moment. But I do not want to give up on my freelance career. I just have to settle into my new role and find out how much time I have left and how to divide that between the things I need to do and the things I want to do. Further developing my freelance writer career is one of the things I want to do. After all, you need above-average scheduling skills if you want to make it as a freelancer, anyway.

It is not what I had in mind for this blog, but it looks like it will be about my attempts to balance my various lives, with focus on the freelance part, obviously.

Hi, Sonya!

Balancing our lives is really what it's (always) all about, isn't it! It can certainly be a challenge at times, too--especially because achieving balance in our freelance writing career alone can be difficult enough! But, I guess we simply have to keep working at it, doing our best to improve a little bit at a time and trusting that...soon...we'll have it all together...yet knowing that it's definitely an ongoing process.

Best of luck!
Jeanne

Hi Sonya -
So you are not finding having a day job and keeping up with your freelancing too much in your life?

Good luck to you and hope the new year will bring more promises

Amy

Its a great time for the self made publishers since blogs have brought down the entry barrier to naught. The crisis you are facing may be on the top of many minds - deciding how much time to spend to what you love to do and what you have to do. Especially, I feel that freelancing can help us tide over the little shortcomings and loss of intellectual satisfaction at our work.

Would look ahead to your posts on the balancing act...
