Where is Jenn Querying This Friday?
August 29th 2008 12:06
After yesterday’s frustration, I’m going to really pay attention to every ad. I responded to a call for authors and it turned out to be a self-publishing outfit. I don’t know if it was a scam or not because, even though the front page of their website says they will traditionally publish your book, their email responses say they have dumped that program and have found that working with those who want to self publish is more profitable.
Very disappointing.
So, my targets are going to be more tightly focused from here on out. I’m not going to reply to anything that seems questionable or too good to be true. This was always my practice, but I’ve found myself giving the benefit of the doubt more often lately for some reason. Lesson learned. Here are my targets for today:
· Writer Wanted: Book For Working Moms : I think it’s pretty obvious why I chose to target this lead. This project seems perfect for the direction I’m taking my career!
· Green Book Making : I targeted this one because, I love book making and I love green topics. I’m in the process of working on a lot of art projects, so why not incorporate green principles in with them?
I’ve been keeping my queries to two per day because I don’t want to overload myself. Typically, I’d hit on every target that interested me or that I was qualified for . . . sometimes up to ten per day. I can’t do that these days, though, because there’s too much else going on and I have to do be realistic about that.
