As much as I try keeping up with clerical work over the weekend, I always seem to be spending the first solid hour of each Monday taking care of these things:
· Email: It amazes me that I can close my email inbox with zero messages Sundays at 6:00pm, and re-open my inbox Mondays to at 7:00am to find 46 new messages (after clearing 52 SPAM messages).
· Filing: My desk quickly becomes its own filing cabinet if I’m not careful. I have assignments, research, drafts, mail, and other miscellaneous bits of what-not speckling my desk awaiting my attention.
This is only some of what fills the first chunk of my Monday. I usually have a number of voicemails to answer (sorry, guys), faxes to send out, and new phone calls coming in as well. It interests me how much this Monday morning routine mirrors that of other professions.
