How to Find a Freelance Writing Job
December 18th 2008 23:41
Thanks to everyone who responded to my last post. I didn't expect such a great reader response -- it's very inspiring! That being said, I thought I would mention a couple of great sites I found for freelance writing jobs.
Like the sites I mentioned earlier, it's hard to find sites that list legitimate freelance writing positions. Most sites want you to join and give personal information. Some even want you to pay to look at their listings. But a site I found called The Write Jobs lists some great freelance writing positions, many of which allow writers to telecommute.
Another great resource for writers is JournalismJobs.com. This site lists journalism-related jobs from around the world. From the home page, click on "View All Job Listings," then find the Location drop-down box and pick Telecommute. They update their listings all the time.
Right now, there are openings at the highly coveted About.com. Any freelance writer who lands a gig at About.com is pretty much set for life career-wise. They guarantee new writers $725 a month for the first two years! But it's extremely difficult to get your foot in the door there. My best advice is to check the List of Available Topics every single day, and if there's something that you think you could cover, jump on it.
Good luck with your job search. I will keep you posted as I find more good sites and ideas.
