Don't Rush!
July 23rd 2008 14:37
If there is one that I have learned while wading through the trenches of this little writing career of mine it is DON'T RUSH through your work. I made this mistake on another blog (Jenn Hollowell: Working Writer) and it was quickly spotted by two of my writer friends. Why did this happen? Because I was trying to hurry up and get the content up.
Writing quickly and producing quick turn-around times does not always mean quality work is being completed. My earlier blog post, which contained careless errors, is the perfect example of that. There are some writers who can write on the fly and the work comes out great . . . these writers are few and far between, though.
Bottom line: take your time, check your work, and then check it again. This advice may seem very obvious to seasoned writers, but even writers who have been "at it" for a long time need these reminders.

So be it email, a slapped up blog post, or even social media chatter, it is a good idea to check yourself and take as much time as you need to get it right.
