Break the Block: Tip #37

October 10th 2008 19:45

Follow this prompt to help break or prevent writer’s block. Use your word processor, your blog, or handwrite this out. Remember that whatever works best for you will yield the best results.

What is the last magazine or newspaper you read? Describe this publication in 300 words. Why did you choose this publication? Describe why in 200 words. Is this a publication you typically have delivered or typically purchase while shopping? Did you purchase this publication as an impulse buy? Answer these questions in 200 words.

If you feel you can write more than what is outlined here, feel free to do so. If you feel the need to write less, consider writing about why you wish to do so in order to keep your pen moving and your mind working.

I can't remember the last time I read a magazine or a newspaper...

I get those "freebie" newspapers from the library every week, plus I love reading magazines while I'm there (or in a waiting room).

I don't pay attention; I don't like most of what's going on in the world right now and I have enough problems of my own.

I can relate to that. There's way too much negative news. That's why I choose those freebie publications - they tend to have a more positive bent and focus on topics of interest to those interested in community events such as the arts, library news, and the parks/wildlife.

I see.

But that means getting off my lazy butt...
