Break the Block: Tip #17
September 18th 2008 11:53
Follow this prompt to help break or prevent writer’s block. Use your word processor, your blog, or handwrite this out. Remember that whatever works best for you will yield the best results.
Take whatever book or magazine is sitting next to you and flip to page seventeen. Go to the seventeenth sentence and write it down. Write seventeen sentences about the sentence you’ve just written. Then, in 100 words, write about your thoughts surrounding what you’ve just written. Are they good thoughts? Are they bad thoughts? Did this tip bring about silly thoughts? Explore as many of them as you can.
If you feel you can write more than what is outlined here, feel free to do so. If you feel the need to write less, consider writing about why you wish to do so in order to keep your pen moving and your mind working.
