Get Your But In Your Chair and Write!
I've been reading quite a bit about how BIC writing is a constant challenge for writers. This has been a huge topic of conversation on various writing boards and forums, so it sparked some interest in this little brain of mine.
First, BIC stands for "butt in chair." In other words, get your butt in your chair and write! This is a challenge for a lot of writers for various reasons. If the weather is nice, they'd rather be outside doing something else. If the weather is gloomy, it's difficult to find inspiration and so on and so forth.
What are YOUR challenges with BIC writing? What is the best advice you can give to other writers going through this?
My advice: keep a journal. It may seem like a simplistic approach to this issue, but it works for me. If I schedule a specific time to write in my journal daily, then it is easy for me to KEEP sitting and get to work following that ritual.
